5 Mindset Shifts that Can Change Your Life

I firmly believe that our mindset has a HUGE impact on our lives. I’m speaking from experience on this. Through changing my thinking and thinking patterns I have been able to shift my entire life. I have gone from being extremely depressed and plagued by anxiety, to be one of the happiest and most optimistic people you’ll ever come across. If that isn’t enough to convince you of the power of changing your mindset, then go ask Google (since Google knows everything). You’ll encounter blogs, articles, and books with more information than you could ever digest on how changing your mindset can change your life.

 

To give you a good start, here are 5 mindset shifts that are extremely powerful and can have an insurmountable impact when you apply them to life.

 

  1. Doing vs. Thinking

You’re probably familiar with the slogan “Just Do It!” Well, Nike got it right with this one. We are constantly thinking of things that we want to do or changes that we want to implement in our lives. But, thinking doesn’t do those things or implement those changes. You taking action does! You need to think less and do more! Don’t confuse that with not thinking at all or not thinking things through, but sometimes we overthink ourselves out of taking action. Decide what it is that you want, make a plan, and then ACT on that plan. That’s the only way you are going to make progress towards the changes that you want.

  1. Growth vs. Fixed

Nobody likes feeling stuck. Unfortunately, many do because they are stuck in a “fixed” mindset. Most people think that they can’t change because they don’t have the ability to do so. But, this is a lie that is often used as a scapegoat because growth and change is in our nature. By adopting a “growth” mindset, you shift your thinking from “I’m stuck here, and this is how things are,” to “I have the ability and intelligence to create change in all areas of my life.” The first step to creating change is believing in your ability to change, and that happens when you adopt a “growth” mindset.

 

  1. Creator vs. Victim

Many people that I meet and talk with have a “victim” mentality towards life. They allow their past and their circumstances to define them and how their life is. Having this mindset makes it feel as though everything in life is happening to you. It’s a mindset accompanied by fear, anxiety, and feelings of no control.

 

When you adopt the “creator” mindset, you put the power of your life back into your hands. This mindset allows you to quit playing victim by becoming the VICTOR! We create our lives through our thoughts and our actions on those thoughts. When you truly understand this concept, you begin to see that how you have experienced life has been dictated by the thoughts YOU HAVE CREATED and acted/reacted too.

 

With the “creator” mindset you gain control of your life through realizing that by creating your thoughts you are creating your reality.

  1. Love vs. hate

It all comes down to love! Amazing things happen when you start thinking in terms of love. Exercise because you love your body and you want to train it, not because you hate it. Eat healthy because you want to nourish your body out of love for all it does for you. Work towards your dream because you love yourself enough to know that you deserve your dreams, not because you don’t think you are good enough.

 

When you start living your life out of love for yourself, others, and life itself, you will acquire a radiant glow that very few possess. A glow that will make you a magnet to receiving more of what you love.

 

  1. Journey vs. Destination

I think this is the most important mindset you can adopt when it comes to life. This is one that I personally need to practice on a consistent basis. Often, we focus on the destination because we want what is waiting for us there. We want that body, we want that dream, we want that end goal. We want it so badly that it becomes an obsession and we get tunnel vision. But, it’s the journey that takes us to that destination. On the journey is where all the learning and growth is. The journey is where LIFE IS! It’s where we meet people and have experiences that make us both laugh and cry.

 

The journey is perhaps even more important than the destination itself because the journey is what prepares us for the destination. Seeing life as a journey filled with magnificent adventures, powerful lessons, and experiences make life a little less stressful and a lot more fun.
